Selva Q 400mg Tablet is used to treat increased phosphate levels in the blood. It is used in patients who are on dialysis due to severe kidney disease. It inhibits the absorption of phosphate from the intestine and lowers the phosphate levels in the blood.Selva Q 400mg Tablet should be taken with food. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Take it regularly and at a fixed time each day to get the maximum benefit of the medicine.Selva Q 400mg Tablet may cause side effects such as nausea vomiting abdominal pain constipation and diarrhea. You may also develop low levels of calcium folic acid and vitamins A D E and K in your blood. Take necessary supplements as advised by your doctor.

Although there are limited studies in humans animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor. | - Breast feeding : SAFE IF PRESCRIBED <p> Selva Q 400mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. | - Driving : CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR <p> It is not known whether Selva Q 400mg Tablet alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react. | - Kidney : SAFE IF PRESCRIBED <p> Selva Q 400mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Selva Q 400mg Tablet is recommended.However regular monitoring of calcium levels is advisable in these patients. | - Liver : SAFE IF PRESCRIBED <p> Selva Q 400mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Selva Q 400mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

If you miss a dose of Selva Q 400mg Tablet skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

It is important to take it with meals because Selva Q 400mg Tablet works by binding to phosphate from food. Take it exactly as advised by your doctor.| Q. Can Selva Q 400mg Tablet be crushed?::: No you should not crush chew or break Selva Q 400mg Tablet into pieces. You should swallow it as a whole with water.| Q. Why is it important for me to take Selva Q 400mg Tablet?::: It is important to take Selva Q 400mg Tablet as patients undergoing dialysis cannot control the phosphate levels in their blood especially after a meal. When the level of phosphate exceeds above the range in the blood it may cause problems such as itchy skin red eyes high blood pressure bone pain and also increase the risk of fractures. These increased serum phosphate levels are reduced by Selva Q 400mg Tablet as it binds phosphate from food in the digestive tract.| Q. Does Selva Q 400mg Tablet cause constipation?::: A common side effect of Selva Q 400mg Tablet is constipation though it does not occur in everyone. The other common side effects of the stomach and intestine include diarrhea indigestion flatulence and pain in the abdomen. Immediately consult your doctor if these side effects become severe and disturb you.| Q. Who should not take Selva Q 400mg Tablet?::: Patients who are allergic to Selva Q 400mg Tablet and who have low levels of phosphate in blood should avoid taking Selva Q 400mg Tablet. Additionally patients having intestinal obstruction should also avoid using Selva Q 400mg Tablet.| Q. Can I take ciprofloxacin while I am taking Selva Q 400mg Tablet?::: Ciprofloxacin may interfere with the working of Selva Q 400mg Tablet and therefore it should not be taken at the same time as Selva Q 400mg Tablet. However if taken together then a gap of at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after taking Selva Q 400mg Tablet should be maintained.| Q. How long do I need to take Selva Q 400mg Tablet?::: Continue taking Selva Q 400mg Tablet as long as recommended by your doctor. Selva Q 400mg Tablet lowers your dietary phosphate levels but does not cure your disease. Hence you may have to take it lifelong as stopping Selva Q 400mg Tablet may increase your phosphate levels.| Q. Do I need to have any tests while taking Selva Q 400mg Tablet?::: Yes serum phosphate levels should be monitored regularly while you are taking Selva Q 400mg Tablet. Also the use of Selva Q 400mg Tablet may decrease the levels of vitamin D A E K and folic acid and hence the levels need to be monitored during the treatment.
