In Treatment of Bacterial infections Mintof OZ Syrup is an antibiotic medicine given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections such as tooth abscess gum infection pneumonia diarrhea dysentery peritonitis burning sensation while passing urine and certain genital tract infections. This medicine inhibits the growth of infection-causing bacteria by stopping it from multiplying. You may start seeing an improvement in the infection within 3 to 5 days of regular dosing. But you must still finish the full course of the medicine and never stop it abruptly by yourself as that may worsen your child’s condition or cause infection recurrence.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Mintof OZ Syrup may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Mintof OZ Syrup is given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections of the teeth lungs gastrointestinal tract urinary tract and genital tract. This medicine is also given as an empirical antibiotic for infected diarrhea mixed with blood and serious infections like peritonitis.Give Mintof OZ Syrup to your child orally preferably at a fixed time either before or after meals. In case your child develops a stomach upset prefer giving it with meals. Generally this medicine is prescribed to be given two times a day in the morning and evening. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of intake repeat the same dose but do not double the dose if it is time for the next dose. Never change the dose time and way prescribed by the doctor since these depend upon the type and severity of the infection your child’s age and body weight.In some cases this medicine may cause some minor and temporary side effects including nausea vomiting weight loss metallic taste headache loss of appetite abdominal cramps and mild skin rash. These side effects are temporary and recede when your child gets used to the medicine. In case the side effects persist or start bothering your child consult your child’s doctor without any delay.Narrate your child’s complete medical history to your child’s doctor including any previous episode of allergy heart problem liver impairment and kidney malfunction. What should I tell the doctor before giving Mintof OZ Syrup to my child?::: You must tell the doctor if your child is suffering from heart disease seizures psychiatric disorders diabetes photoallergy (allergy from sunlight) neuromuscular disorders rheumatoid arthritis or genetic disorders involving blood vessels. This is because there is a possibility that Mintof OZ Syrup may aggravate these conditions and result in complications.| Q. Can Mintof OZ Syrup be given along with cough and cold medicines?::: No do not give Mintof OZ Syrup with cough and cold medicines. The reason being one of the ingredients present in Mintof OZ Syrup can interact with alcohol-containing medicines like cough syrups and can lead to disulfiram reaction causing nausea vomiting flushing dizziness etc.| Q. What if I give an overdose of Mintof OZ Syrup by mistake?::: An extra dose of Mintof OZ Syrup is unlikely to harm. However if you think you have given too much to your child immediately speak to a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects such as seizures tremors severe headache sudden weakness blood cell abnormalities and rapid and irregular heartbeat. Rush to your child’s doctor if you notice any of these symptoms.| Q. What should I do if my child shows no improvement even after taking Mintof OZ Syrup for the prescribed duration?::: It could mean that Mintof OZ Syrup is unable to kill the infection-causing bacteria. In such a case visit your child’s doctor who may prescribe some other antibiotic that has a higher efficacy against the disease-causing bacteria. Remember that sometimes such antibiotics may have to be given by IV route (intravenous injection) in the hospital.| Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Mintof OZ Syrup?::: Mintof OZ Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Mintof OZ Syrup. Also check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.| Q. How should Mintof OZ Syrup be stored?::: Store Mintof OZ Syrup at room temperature in a dry place away from direct heat and light. Children may accidentally consume medicines if they find them while playing around. So make sure that all the medicines are kept away from their reach and sight.| Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Mintof OZ Syrup?::: Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better the vaccine can be given.| Q. My child has been passing red-brown urine ever since he started taking Mintof OZ Syrup? Is it normal?::: Mintof OZ Syrup contains active ingredient metronidazole which causes red-brown urine. It is not pathogenic but a side effect. It subsides once the medicine is stopped after the completion of the treatment.
